By accessing or using the UK Ghostbusters website and forum at theukghostbusters.co.uk, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

These Terms apply to all visitors, registered members, franchise owners, moderators, and administrators. Use of the forum constitutes acceptance.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years of age to register an account on this forum, in line with UK GDPR requirements for consent. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

Users under 18 are welcome but should be aware that forum content may include mature discussion topics related to Ghostbusters themes, prop building (tools, chemicals, electronics), and fan events.

3. Your Account

3.1 Registration

You must provide a valid email address when registering. You agree to keep your account information accurate and up to date. One account per person — duplicate accounts are not permitted without prior admin approval.

3.2 Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately at web@theukghostbusters.co.uk.

3.3 Username

Usernames must not impersonate other people, celebrities, or official organisations. Usernames containing offensive, discriminatory, or inappropriate language will be changed by an administrator without notice.

4. User Conduct

You agree to use the forum in a respectful, constructive manner. The following are strictly prohibited:

• Harassment, bullying, threatening, or targeting of other members
• Hate speech, discrimination, or content offensive to groups based on race, gender, religion, sexuality, disability, or nationality
• Posting spam, unsolicited advertising, or repetitive/off-topic content
• Impersonating any person, organisation, or entity
• Sharing personal information of other individuals without their consent (doxxing)
• Attempting to hack, disrupt, or compromise the forum or its infrastructure
• Attempting to circumvent bans or account suspensions
• Posting illegal content of any kind
• Any activity that violates UK law

5. Content Rules

5.1 General Standards

This is a fan community centred around Ghostbusters. Content should be relevant, respectful, and in the spirit of the community. We welcome lively debate, but ask that discussions remain constructive.

5.2 Prohibited Content

The following types of content are not permitted anywhere on the forum:

• Adult, sexually explicit, or pornographic material
• Graphic violence or gore
• Content that glorifies or facilitates self-harm
• Illegal content including piracy, copyright infringement, or counterfeit goods
• Malware, viruses, or malicious code
• Commercial advertising without prior admin approval

5.3 Commercial Links & Affiliate Content

Sharing relevant links to products, suppliers, and services in the appropriate forum sections (such as the UK Suppliers thread) is encouraged as a community resource. However, commercial entities or individuals must not use the forum primarily as an advertising platform without arrangement with the admin team.

5.4 Archival & Historical Content

UK Ghostbusters actively works to preserve historical forum content recovered from before 2013. Such content is posted in good faith for community benefit. If you believe content infringes your rights, please contact us.

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of content you post (text, images, etc.). By posting on this forum, you grant UK Ghostbusters a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and archive your content as part of the community platform.

6.2 Ghostbusters IP

Ghostbusters® is a registered trademark of Sony Pictures Entertainment / Columbia Pictures. UK Ghostbusters is an independent fan community with no affiliation to Sony Pictures, Columbia Pictures, or the official Ghostbusters franchise. All Ghostbusters-related trademarks, characters, and imagery remain the property of their respective owners.

6.3 Forum Content

The collective forum content, structure, and design are the property of UK Ghostbusters. Reproducing significant portions of forum content on other platforms without permission is not permitted.

7. Gallery Uploads

The Gallery feature allows members to share photos of props, costumes, events, and builds. When uploading images:

• You must have the right to share the image (your own photo, or permission from the copyright holder)
• Images must comply with all content rules in Section 5
• You grant UK Ghostbusters the right to display the image on the platform
• Images may appear in forum embeds and community highlights
• Do not upload images containing personal information of others without their consent

8. Private Messages

The Private Message (PM) system is provided as a courtesy feature for member-to-member communication. Private messages:

• Are stored on our servers (see Privacy Policy)
• Must comply with the same conduct rules as public posts
• May be reviewed by administrators if reported for harassment or abuse
• Should not be used to solicit personal information from other members

Abuse of the PM system (including harassment, spamming, or unsolicited commercial messages) may result in PM privileges being revoked.

9. Franchises & Social Groups

UK Ghostbusters hosts official Social Groups for registered UK Ghostbusters franchises. Franchise owners and members agree to:

• Keep franchise information accurate and up to date
• Use their group primarily for franchise-related activity and community engagement
• Conduct themselves in accordance with these Terms at all times
• Not use their Social Group to promote competing platforms or direct members away from the community

Franchise Social Groups are created at the discretion of the admin team following registration in the Official Franchise Registration Thread. UK Ghostbusters reserves the right to archive or remove inactive franchise groups.

10. Advertising

We display Google AdSense advertisements to guests and non-subscribing members. By using the forum without an ad-free subscription, you acknowledge that third-party advertising may be displayed. Advertisers do not influence editorial content or community decisions.

11. Ad-Free Subscriptions

UK Ghostbusters offers an optional low-cost ad-free subscription tier. Subscribers:

• Will have advertising suppressed across the forum during their active subscription period
• Remain subject to all other Terms of Service
• Are not entitled to any additional moderation powers or special treatment
• May cancel at any time; refunds are at the discretion of the admin team

Subscription fees are used to support hosting and community running costs.

12. Moderation

12.1 The Moderation Team

UK Ghostbusters is moderated by a volunteer team of administrators and moderators. They have the authority to edit, move, lock, or remove content, and to warn, suspend, or ban members who violate these Terms.

12.2 Enforcement

Moderation decisions are at the discretion of the team. Actions may include:

• Content removal or editing
• Formal warnings
• Temporary suspension
• Permanent ban

12.3 Appeals

If you believe a moderation action was applied unfairly, you may appeal by emailing web@theukghostbusters.co.uk. Appeals are reviewed by the admin team, whose decision is final.

12.4 Reporting

Members are encouraged to use the "Report" function to flag content that violates these Terms. Do not attempt to moderate other members yourself — this can escalate situations unnecessarily.

13. Termination & Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting web@theukghostbusters.co.uk. Following deletion:

• Your username and email will be removed from active account records
• Posts you created may be retained in anonymised form as part of the community archive
• Gallery images will be removed unless specifically requested to remain

UK Ghostbusters reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, without notice in serious cases.

14. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

UK Ghostbusters is a volunteer-run fan community. The forum is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the forum will be free from errors.

User-generated content reflects the views of individual members and not UK Ghostbusters. We are not liable for the accuracy of member posts, external links, or third-party content.

To the maximum extent permitted by UK law, UK Ghostbusters shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the forum.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
